1. Studying from Home/ 2009 Reflection

One thing that troubles me with having to study, or even work, from home is that it never feels like I’ve left, or begun, at the end, or start of the day. I have been trying to sort out a way to help organise my time a little better, or at least sort out a system that lets me shut down and start up with a discernible change in action to separate the “at home” life and “at work/study” life.

I’ve tried setting a timeline, or schedule, for the day but that doesn’t work due to my wacky sleep pattern, I’ve tried turning off everything and focusing… that’s another fail, my mind enjoys multitasking (at the time of writing this I’m watching tv, listening to music, emailing, twittering(tweeting?), messing around with Onenote and loading up lectures for today), I have not noticed any detriment while doing this, however I would prefer to cut most of the out and focus on something but I just can’t seem to do it to enough of a degree…

    [Just thinking out aloud here]

Maybe I should try something like white, pink, or brown noise to cut out noise distractions; shutting down everything for a period of 45 minutes and just having word, Onenote, and PowerPoint open while studying… Why didn’t I think of that first?! :S

    [Cutting the thinking aloud…]

At least one good thing that has come from studying, besides the actually you know study, I can actually write something now without having to force it out like I used to, guess I can also contribute some of that to twitter and to #youguys for getting me chattier and letting me become involved with things.

This year has been a year of misery, nerves, joy and laughter, a lot of that has been because I, in myself, have grown a LOT this year. It’s been a year of change for me, I’ve gone back to study after almost 9 years, met some fantastic people that I can chat with easily, and restarted on an old goal.

To everyone that reads this I hope you all have a great New Year, starting tomorrow for some of us and the day after for the rest of the globe :P. Have a think back and reflect on what the year has given you, things you have learnt, friends you have gained, or the things you have lost, you’ll carry these things with you always so learn from them and remember those not with us at end the year.
