1. Study Method of a Distance student.

So over the last 8 months I’ve gone back and started to study for a bachelor of business and as such had to deal with getting back into study mode. After such a long time off, being lazy :P, not studying It was a shock to the system to have to actually sit down read, study and research materials and subjects. Well as you can imagine it was a rough and bumpy road to start with, I was all over the place with how I was managing my time and how I would focus on certain topics for too long, so I had to come up with a way that could help me focus and stay a path… Well after searching around and trying many, many, did I mention many?, methods of how to time manage and focus I came across “The Pomodoro Technique”, essentially it is a 25 minute on; 5 minute off; with a 25 minute break after 4 sessions study type.

So now I can break down my days into a set routine of study, research and writing, starting with, usually, microeconomics for 2½ then time to move on after a 25-30 minute break to marketing and then the sequence repeats. After doing this for about two weeks I’ve managed to catch up on 90% of my work and write out decent reports on time, save for some pc issues and a power outage.

So in the end it’s been an interesting try and I think I’ll stick with the method. I’m still amazed as to how fast this year has gone. There have been some tragic moments, sudden loss of my grandfather just before I started studying again, and some happy moments, can’t really think of any but I’m sure there is some in there somewhere…

Anyway tl:dr; The Pomodoro Technique works for a study/work technique if you have issues with focus and time management.

Edit: I use FocusBooster as a timer to time each step, it automatically factors in breaks for you!
